Michael Goard
About Michael:

Michael Goard is a neuroscientist jointly-appointed to MCDB and PBS. He earned his BA from Reed College and his PhD in Neuroscience from UC Berkeley. After a postdoc at MIT, he joined the UC Santa Barbara faculty in 2016.

The Goard lab is focused on understanding the neural circuits that allow us to perceive, remember, and navigate through our spatial environment.

Why UCSB?

I was drawn to UCSB because of the “science first, ego last” attitude. Where else can you do world class science—then take a break from the bench and be hiking in the mountains or swimming in the ocean in minutes?
