Carla Ladd

Biography

Carla graduated UC Davis with a Major in Genetics & Genomics and a minor in Religious Studies. She entered UCSB's PhD track in MCDB in 2018.

Research

Using a series of behavioral assays, I am both looking at what decisions fruit flies make when faced with competing stimuli as well as the underlying neuroscience and genetics behind these choices. I am trying to discover if there is a centralized decision making system behind Drosophila action selection, or if each decision is controlled independently.
