Description

The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2020. The Department is looking for individuals with particular emphasis in Molecular Cell Biology.

The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology offers competitive start-up packages, inclusion in both departmental and inter-departmental graduate programs, and access to state-of the art facilities, including for biological imaging and stem-cell culture. The University of California at Santa Barbara prides itself on interdisciplinary research, and new faculty will have opportunities to integrate into campus-wide initiatives, including those in Bioengineering, Neuroscience, Multimodal Big Data Science, and Marine Science.

Responsibilities of faculty members generally include the development of an actively funded research program of the highest quality, teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate levels, recruitment, supervision, and mentorship of graduate students, and participation in university service and professional activities. Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Cell Biology or a related field by the time of application. A minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience, a demonstrated record of excellence in research, and a record of (or potential for) outstanding teaching, including incorporation of innovating teaching methods, are preferred. Preferred candidates will have a record of collaborative research, and will be able to leverage synergies within the Department and Division. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service as appropriate to the position.
