Justin completed his B.S. in Pharmacology from UC Santa Barbara, and is continuing his M.A. in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology with the Emphasis in Pharmacology and Biotechnology at UC Santa Barbara. He joined the Ma Lab in January 2016, and wishes to pursue a career in biomedical research. He has particular research interests in kidney diseases and the hepatitis viruses.
Combining backgrounds in cell biology, pharmacology, and virology, Justin currently investigates molecular mechanisms involved in regulating measles virus (MeV) replication. He began in the Ma Lab studying unconventional functions of histone H3 lysine 4 methyltransferase complexes (H3K4MTs), epigenetic machineries which methylates histone H3 lysine 4 in the nucleus.
